ARO PortaStand Adjustable Portafilter Stand and Puck Prep Station.
A portafilter stand that adjusts to the portafilter instead of the other way round. Two independent contact points, a steel-cored silicone rest under the basket and a silicone saddle under the handle, each set separately so the portafilter sits level and does not rock while you dose, distribute and tamp. Tested against more than a hundred portafilters from 49mm to 58mm, bottomless or spouted, straight or angled handle. Shipped direct from ARO Espresso.
How it adjusts
Handle height moves in 6 mm steps with five magnetic silicone spacers that stack on the steel base; slide the stack forward or back to set reach, and rotate the saddle 180 degrees for angled handles. Rest height moves in 3 mm steps with a riser under the aluminum pedestal, fitted by default.
Build
Aerospace-grade aluminum pedestal, anodized black. Silicone overmolded on a thick steel baseplate for weight, with a polished underside that grips the counter. The top interface has an outer centering lip for the portafilter body and a large chamfered opening that clears single and double spouts; a flat outer face carries bottomless portafilters.
Setup
Ships assembled. Place on a flat counter, seat the portafilter with the basket on the rest and the handle in the saddle, then add or remove spacers until it sits level and supported at both points. For finer rest height, lift the pedestal out of the baseplate, add or remove the 3 mm riser, and press it firmly back in.
Fit
Nearly everything from 49mm to 58mm. Known exception: the stock Fellow Espresso Series 1 portafilter, whose oversized lower body will not sit flush.
In the box
Silicone baseplate, aluminum pedestal, silicone portafilter rest, 3 mm spacer, magnetic handle saddle, five 6 mm magnetic spacers.
Care
Brush off grounds or wipe with a damp cloth. Everything disassembles for a hand wash.
